Mr. Monk and the Zombie Giraffe

The title of this blog is not about the show. It is not some lost episode that never aired. I chose this title solely on the fact that Mr. Monk made an appearance in my dream the other night. That’s right, kids. It is time for another dream of mine. If you have read any of my other dreams then this dream will not leave you scratching your head in wonderment.

I was at work. It wasn’t really work though. It was like a prison. I know it was a prison because of the outfits some people were wearing and the fact the Mr. Monk and security guards were there. I would’ve said it was a prison and not work but there were employees from work there, dressed in their uniforms and doing what employees in uniforms do.

I was standing by the grill. I was busy making a burger for someone. Not sure who for. The burger was large. I used to make a double bacon cheeseburger a long time ago. It was a pound burger, 4 slices of cheese, and 4 strips of bacon. All this on a grilled, buttery bun. I dubbed it, The Farley Burger. Now, take that burger and basically quadruple it. You have 8 burger patties but they aren’t of average size. These patties were as big as a small, rotisserie chicken. It was a towering burger. A heart attack on a plate, waiting for that certain someone to come by and eat it up.

While I am busy cooking, there is a woman trying her hardest to get her seaplane off the ground. Okay. I shouldn’t say, off the ground. She wasn’t on the ground actually. She was sitting (her plane really) on the body of water and her plane just wouldn’t move. We wonder what is wrong. What could be keeping her from taking off and getting to wherever it is she is trying to go. She beats her hands against the controls.

The scene cuts to two men sitting at a table…

Yes. I said, ‘scene cuts’. This dream is playing out like a movie. How else would you explain three different stories going on during one dream.

The two men are arguing. One of the men is Adrian Monk. Mr. Monk is in a room. I will assume it is an interrogation room. The other man is, nameless. Never did his name get mentioned. Maybe it did and I forgot. Doesn’t matter. This nameless man is the bad guy in the room. Mr. Monk is doing his hand thingy to see what the man is about. He wants to see if the man will spill his secrets and confess to what it was that he did. The man, dressed in a red and green plaid shirt, says nothing. he stares at Mr. Monk. The silence is broken when he slams his fist on the table. He would have slammed both but we see that his other hand is broken. It is broken like, the one-armed man from The Fugitive. The twisted, mangled mess of arm rests on the table. The man hits the table again.

Cut scene. Back to the gal and the plane. The plane takes off. The lady starts to pick up speed and glide across the water. The camera pans away and goes under the water. We follow the plane from a distance, dodging in and out of seaweed. We speed by something that makes no sense. It doesn’t need to make sense because this is a dream. Sticking out from the bottom of view, are two heads. These aren’t human heads. The heads and necks belong to two giraffes. They are effin’ underwater! Giraffes under water! Really!? No matter. The giraffes turn their heads and watch as the plane disappears from view and is now airborne.

With the plane now in the air, she can get to where it is she is going. But nothing ever works out in my dreams. Everything collapses. The chance of escaping or being successful is almost slim to none during my dreams. You lose. Game over. The lady doesn’t get very far in her plane before it starts to fall apart mid-flight. The plane is made out of Legos. Yes, I said Legos. Bricks start to fall off. Piece by piece, the plane is no more. We see random bricks crashing to the ground and these falling bricks are becoming dangerous to those on the ground. They are like little, plastic meteors. Now the lady is not in her plane anymore. She is on the ground, defending herself from the blocks of doom. She creates a wall of Legos with the pieces that were scattered about on the ground. The wall works somewhat. While it does stand for a little, pieces of knocked away by the still falling Legos from above. Pieces fly by and fly right into the ‘screen’ like it is some 3D movie. How often do you have dreams about giant Legos falling from the sky?

Remember the work dream from the beginning? Let’s get back to that. Out of nowhere, a zombie appears. He attacks a man in a red shirt. I am standing there, holding the burger and watching the zombie feast on the guy. I am freaking out. I think, if he eats that guy, we’ll have two zombies. After that, four zombies…and so on. I don’t want that. I don’t wanna be a zombie. I run. I am chased. I see two employees (the two from earlier) in a long, rectangular room. The room is white. There is a phone attached to the wall in the room. Nothing else but the phone and the two guys. I don’t see one of the faces but I know it’s Marbles. I know it’s him. They are safe and I am not. I want in the room. I want out of this wretched Hell. I don’t want to be eaten and spend my life as a zombie at work.

That is it. I was never bitten. I never did find out if I escaped or was killed. I woke up before that question was answered. Let’s take some of the highlights from the dream and see what they mean. What could my dream be trying to tell me?

  • prison
  • zombie
  • seaplane
  • burger
  • giraffe
  • legos
  • detective
  • interrogation

Okay. Let me see what Dream Moods says. I am sure all the sites are the same. It was the first link on google and I am far too lazy to look around for a different site for an answer that will obviously be the same no matter what site I pick.

Prison: To dream that you are in prison indicates that you are being censored in some area of your life. You feel that your creativity is being limited and that you are not allowed to express yourself.

I mentioned that I was in prison. I wasn’t a convict there but was still locked away in what was a prison but could have been work. Dream Moods says that being imprisoned is, To dream that you are imprisoned suggests that you are feeling trapped or unable to move beyond a certain point. Perhaps your outdated beliefs or old ways of thinking is preventing you from going forward.

Zombie: A zombie means that you are feeling dead inside. You are just going through the motions of daily living.

Seaplane: (using ‘airplane’) To see an airplane in your dream indicates that you will overcome your obstacles and rise to a new level of prominence and status. You may experience a higher consciousness, new-found freedom and greater awareness. Perhaps you need to gain a better perspective or wider view on something.

Since I (she) had trouble taking off, If the airplane is taking off, then it suggests that an idea or plan is about to “take off” and be put into action. It may also represent your need to get away and escape from your daily life.

Burger: To see or eat a hamburger in your dream suggests that you are lacking some emotional, intellectual, or physical component in order to feel whole again. You may be feeling unsatisfied with some situation or relationship. It is also symbolic of your experiences and how you need to learn from them. Look at the big picture.

Giraffe: To see a giraffe in your dream suggests that you need to consider the overall picture. Take a broader view on your life and where it is headed. The dream may also be a metaphor on how you are “sticking your neck out” for someone.

Lego: To see or play with Legos in your dreams indicates your ability to make something out of a single block. It may refer to the “building blocks” or foundation of some plan. The dream may also be a pun on the “let go”. Is there something in your waking life that you need to let go? To dream that something is make made of Legos represents your imagination and creative mind.

I will also mention what “blocks” means. I believe it may tie into the whole dream. Blocks in dreams is, To see a block or blocks in your dream represent obstacles that you need to overcome. These are things that try to hinder you from achieving your goals. Alternatively, it symbolizes a vision and making something out of nothing.

Detective: To see a detective in your dream signifies the thrills and dangers in some aspect of your waking life. To dream that you are a detective indicates that you are searching for your hidden abilities and talents. You may be trying to solve a problem and seek out the truth about some worrisome issue. I wasn’t the Detective. Was I the man in the plaid shirt? If so, To dream that you are being followed by a detective signifies guilt. Your character will be put under scrutiny and called into question.

Interrogation: To dream that you are being interrogated indicates that something or someone in your waking life is trying to squeeze every bit of energy or information out of you. You are feeling stressed or burdened.

Obviously there has to be some meaning to this dream. I mentioned in my dream that I wasn’t sure if I was in a prison or work. Could I be feeling that work is now a prison and I cannot escape it? The zombies were seen at work. If zombies are considered ‘dead inside’ then I must feel that I will never be able to get away from work. I will be stuck doing the same shtick, a mindless zombies with no goals or ambitions. I was cooking a burger at work. Cooking is always good. But I was cooking a burger. It was a large burger too. If the meaning of dream says anything, I must be lacking quite a bit of emotion and intelligence. Or, I am feeling very, very unsatisfied about work and my relationship with it.

What about the lady and the plane? Seeing a plane is about overcoming obstacles. What am I trying to overcome? But if this lady was having a hell of a time taking off, are my plans at a halt right now? It says I need to escape but being that I had a hard time getting the plane to start, when will I get moving? The plane was made out of legos/blocks. The plane was made of legos, so I am creative. What about it being a plane? Is it telling me that my creativeness will get me to finally take off but with a few bumps (since the plane had a hard time starting). Still, the plane did fall apart. My creativeness needs work? I need to work on it more, spend time on it better and not do it half-assed?

Even the detective has a say in this. The thrills and dangers of life is probably work. My life is pretty mundane. I wasn’t the detective. I have to assume I was the other man. The man with the broken arm/wrist. If the detective symbolizes ‘creativeness’ and I was being interrogated by it, is my creativeness trying to come out fully and finally pay off?

I am taking this dream to be about work and my creativity. Maybe the dream means nothing. Maybe it means a lot. I don’t know. You’re welcome to add your two cents. Let me know. What do you think this dream is trying to tell me?

*Oh…you’re probably wondering about the giraffe. Well, if a giraffe is all about looking at the bigger picture, then let’s do that. It’s an effin’ dream. I had a coke before bed and the sugar worked up this odd and mind-f**k of a dream for me to share with you. There’s your bigger picture. Don’t drink coke before bed. You’ll end of dreaming about zombies and giraffes.
