Cake and Zombies

I had another dream the other night. I shouldn’t really make it sound like I don’t dream every night. I do. I dream all the time but some dreams fade away from my memory before I wake up and have time to write it down. At least I had time to write this one down first thing in the morning. I woke up and as I was driving to work, I recorded what I could recall about the dream. Looking at the title of this post, I am sure you know exactly what it is about. It’s a reoccurring theme in my dreams but this time, the zombies were overshadowed by something else. Read on to hear what that thing is.

I was at work. I was just coming out of the cooler when I watched an employee come racing into my department. She is carrying a cake as she rushes around the corner. She puts her lips together and hushes me.

Don’t let her know I am here. It’s supposed to be a surprise.

She was having a surprise party for someone. I don’t know who she is referring to but I do have some idea of who the cake is for. It is for another lady at work. In fact, I know it’s for her but the cake isn’t important. This surprise party is foolish and I am not concerned about that person, the cake, the party, or the fact that I was hushed when all I have is one major issue to deal with. I have something else on my mind. I am too preoccupied with the arrival of zombies. I know the zombies are outside and they are wanting to get in. I watch her mess with the cake, cutting pieces and laying out plates and silverware for everyone. I see something out of the corner of my eye. It’s blue and heading my way really fast.

There is a small boy in the store. He is dressed in a blue hoodie. This little red-headed boy is running from what I assume is a zombie. But I am wrong. He isn’t being chased by a zombie. He is being chased by another creature of the night. A creature that overshadowed the zombies. The ginger is being chased by a ferocious, snarly werewolf.

Yes, a werewolf is inside the store and he’s after the boy. The boy runs and eventually he winds up on the roof of the store. The boy is standing in what looked like an open grave. The grave wasn’t made of dirt or sand. It was stone, possibly cement. The boy hides in the grave but what he doesn’t know is behind him is the werewolf. The creature bites into the boy and as it munches down on the boy’s shoulder, the werewolf morphs into its human self. It’s not a man but a woman. The woman sort of looked like Laurie Holden’s character, Andrea from the television show The Walking Dead. She rips off the boy’s head and tosses it across the ground. At the same time, her head is ripped off too. A camera pans up to show a decayed zombie looming over her.

The zombie was grayish. The face was gone but I can still see it. It is hard to explain how the zombie looked. It was horrific though. I would have high tailed it out of there if that thing was after me. I did run though. I was back inside the building and still in my department. The zombies were closing in and I knew that the zombie on the roof was now inside the store and he was about to get me and the other people inside. I ran at lightning fast speed. I leap in the air and land perfectly on a shelf. I am leaping from aisle to aisle, to avoid being bitten by the zombie and face a life of being undead.

/dream.

As always, I am going to pick up some key points from the dream and see if the dream means anything. You’re welcome to share your thoughts about it. Let’s check out some of the things that stood out to me in the dream.

  • cake
  • red-headed boy
  • blue hoodie
  • zombie
  • werewolf
  • grave
  • decapitation
  • leaping/jumping

Cake: To see a cake in your dream indicates that you need to learn to share and allocate your workload instead of trying to do everything yourself. Cakes also symbolize selfishness or the feeling of not getting your fair share. More positively, the dream may represent your accomplishments and achievements. Consider also the metaphor a “piece of cake” or some situation that is easy.

Red Head/Ginger: (I am using the spice ginger for this): To see ginger in your dream indicates security about comfort in your life. However, you need to add a little more excitement and variety to your life. Since the ginger/redhead is a boy, I looked up and this is what boy means according to dreammoods.com. Boy says, If you are an adult male and dream that you see or are a boy, then it suggests your playful, innocent, childlike nature. Alternatively, it can symbolize the immature aspects of yourself that still need to grow. Your inner child may be trying to draw your attention to parts of yourself that you need to recognize and acknowledge.

Blue: Blue represents truth, wisdom, heaven, eternity, devotion, tranquility, loyalty and openness. Perhaps you are expressing a desire to get away. The presence of this color in your dream, may symbolize your spiritual guide and your optimism of the future. You have clarity of mind. Alternatively, the color blue may also be a metaphor for “being blue” and feeling sad. Hoodie (coat):To see or wear a coat in your dream symbolizes your protectiveness and defensive persona. You may be isolating yourself.

Zombie: …a zombie means that you are feeling dead inside. You are just going through the motions of daily living.

Werewolf: To see a werewolf in your dream indicates that something in your life is not what it seems. It is symbolic of fear, repressed anger, and uncontrollable violence.

Grave: To dream that you are at a grave indicates that you need to delve into your own subconscious in search of an issue that you thought had been put to rest. You need to stand up for yourself for no one else can do it for you. Alternatively, it represents something is about to be completed in your life. You are leaving behind the old and making a new start. The dream may also be a pun on feeling grave or concerns about a serious or sad situation.

Decapitation: To dream that you are decapitated indicates that you are not thinking clearly and are refusing to see the truth. You need to confront the situation or the person despite the pain and discomfort you might feel in doing so. The dream also suggests that you have the tendency to act before you think. Or, if I went with ‘beheaded’ it means, To dream that you or someone else is being beheaded signifies poor judgment or a bad decision that you have made and regretted.

Leaping/Jumping: To dream that you are leaping over an object indicates that you will eventually achieve your desires and goals after some effort and struggle. Alternatively, the dream may be a metaphor for “taking a leap” or taking a chance on a new relationship or situation. Try to step outside your comfort zone. Consider also the phrase “leap of faith”. Or to jump, To dream that you are jumping indicates that you need to take a risk and go for it. You will overcome your obstacles and find progress toward your goals. Consider the metaphors “jumping for joy” to mean thrill and excitement or “jumping the gun” to mean impatience or impulsiveness. The way you feel in the dream will provide additional significance and meaning to your dream.
